Raver
/Wes has been obsessed about colorful light shows ever since we took him to the fireworks last year at fourth of July. It started after he repeatedly demanded "more firework". In and act of pure desperation, Jon and I started looking up fireworks shows on U-Tube. We found a lot of fantastic presentations including Disney and New Years. The was enough for him at the time, but it didn't last long. For those of you who don't spend all your time on U-Tube... or maybe any time... when you watch a video, U-Tube, helpfully, recommends ten more that are similar. This is where the obsession with Christmas light shows began. When Wes had viewed, often more than once, all the fireworks U-Tube had to offer, he started clicking on vids of people's Halloween and Christmas displays. These were almost more appealing to him as he is a singer at heart. From these videos he became obsessed with certain songs including "What Does the Fox Say", and "I'm Sexy and I Know It". When the staff at his therapy started telling me stories about him singing on the potty "I'm Sexy and I Noticed", I wondered if we might be in trouble... (Wes says "noticed" because he can't differentiate the words "Know It")
Sometime over the last month or so, this obsession has escalated yet again. This time, in the same manner, but with Rave gloves. Rave gloves, I have learned, are white (or black) gloves that are fashioned with LED lights in the finger tips and sometimes in the palms. The "Raver" makes the light dance around to the beat of music by simply moving his or her fingers in all different shapes and speeds. Wes has since taken to wearing socks on his hands which he calls his "gloves". He is so obsessive, that he gets upset when the socks are not long enough to go all the way up to his shoulders. Consequently, he has clean and dirty socks all over the house. We battle to get him to take them off to eat, bath, anything.
