Spring Trimester School Projects
/Tay and Liv currently attend Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences (CAIS), where they practice project based learning. Ava will join them there next fall. I think that I have talked about this before on the blog. Anyway, project based learning really lends to distance learning as they are encouraged to follow topics that already interest them and dive in deep to learn more about those obsessions, ehem, topics.
Liv has been exploring lots of topics around animation, and I think this is thier best work yet!
Taylor truly has little obsessions that are sometimes difficult to deep dive because he is really only interested in small pieces of a larger topic. We have worked this year on encouraging him to allow his interest to branch deeper and using his other obsessions (ie:King George) to help him present his learning.
As the newest project learner in the house, Ava is really just coming into this type of learning and presenting. We recognize that this is a totally new skill for her. We have been reading a book called Aru Shah and the End of Time. It focuses on a young Hindi child who has an adventure through the world of Hindu Mythology. Her presentation digs into that mythology more.
